Emily Diane Gunter is the Founder of the Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Foundation dedicated to bring peace to our world through the personal empowerment and spiritual development of all youth in truth, simplicity and love.  Emily is an inspirational keynote speaker, youth academic coach, retreat facilitator, educational consultant, spiritual life coach and author.

Emily traveled to Egypt where she lectured before representatives from seven Egyptian Universities.  Emily tours officiating over the Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Retreats and Elder Certification Retreats for communities interested in starting their own Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Programs in schools, churches and community centers.

Emily’s newest opportunity is implementing the Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Curriculum in public schools after school programs for Urgent, Inc. The foundation of all Emily’s work has been “The Power of Your Breath for Balance Lifelong Learning” since 1970 at the American University.

Emily has trekked in the Himalayan Mountains of India, Tibet and Nepal while writing her books. She is the author of: Rites Of Passage to Spiritual Enlightenment-Living with Compassion; Superlearning 2000: the New Technologies of Self Empowerment ©1993, which promotes proactive learning through relaxed breathing.  Emily’s latest book, “Thirteen Golden Keys to Learning: A Spiritual Journey”, ©2005 is super learning with a touch of the spirit from within. Emily has re-published Superlearning 2000 as Superlearning 3000: learning made simple with the original artwork from 1993 by her son, Kadir Nelson, who is the artist for the new Michael Jackson Album called “Michael”, released 2010.

As an adjunct faculty member of the San Diego Community College District Emily taught Life and Learning Empowerment through relaxed breathing for 17,000 staff and clients of San Diego County Dept. of Social Work.  She was a mathematics adjunct faculty member of Grossmont College. Emily has been a consultant to the San Diego City Unified School District, City of Durham Human Resources and Park and Recreation, and the City of Rochester facilitating staff development and youth development programs. Emily was the 2005 Keynote Speaker for the Defense Department Accounting Services/Air Force Worldwide Conference.

Emily received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematical Statistics from American University, Washington, D. C., in 1970 where she taught mathematics as an adjunct faculty member.  Emily retired from Pacific Bell in San Diego in 1993 as a Telecommunications Engineer. Emily has been listed in:
