Emily D. Gunter is the Founder of the Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Foundation dedicated to the cultural and educational empowerment for all people. Emily is also a keynote speaker, math teacher, youth academic coach, retreat facilitator, seminar leader, lecturer and spiritual life coach.
Emily has traveled to Egypt and the Himalayan Mountains of Tibet and Nepal. For thirteen years Elder Emily officiated over the Girls Rites of Passage Retreats for the African American Women on Tour. Emily is the author of Thirteen Gold Keys to Learning: A Spiritual Journey, Rites Of Passage to Spiritual Enlightenment-Living with Compassion, Superlearning 2000, and Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Curriculum which converts these texts to complete lesson plans for youth and staff trainings. Emily facilitates Retreats to Certify Elders for the Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Programs.
Emily has been an adjunct faculty member of the San Diego Community College District on special assignment, teaching Math, Life Development and Learning Empowerments Training for 15,000 staff and clients for the San Diego County. She was a mathematics adjunct faculty member of Grossmont College. Emily has been a consultant to the San Diego City Unified School District, The City of Durham, N.C. and the City of Rochester facilitating staff development and youth development programs.
Emily received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematical Statistics from American University, Washington, D. C., in 1970 where she taught mathematics as an adjunct faculty member. Emily retired from Pacific Bell in San Diego in 1993 as a Telecommunications Engineer. Emily is listed in:
